Raynes Quarry and jetty and the M.V. Carrier St John's
The M.V.Carrier St John's is fast on the rocks alongside Raynes Jetty where she was forced on Tuesday night, 3 April, having been apparently caught by high winds and heavy seas. Loaded with quarry limestone, the crew of 7 Polish seamen were rescued by RAF helicopters and RNLI lifeboats.
A passer-by at the time suggested it had been neatly parked!
The A55 road was closed for a time and is still partially closed. Fears about pollution appear to be abating LinkExternal link
As at April 9th it now appears the vessel is to be broken up on site LinkExternal link
