A burn on Dumbarton Muir
A burn on Dumbarton Muir
As the 1:25000 OS map shows, the burn flows into the forest, and is one of the tributaries of the Carling Burn; compare NS4679 : Marshy burn on Dumbarton Muir. Only the nearest part of the burn's course lies within the grid square from which the picture was taken.

The OS map also shows a line of seven grouse butts close to the course of the burn. They are not particularly well preserved; for a look at the first and last of them (reckoning from north to south), see, respectively, NS4679 : Grouse butt on Dumbarton Muir and NS4779 : Grouse butt on Dumbarton Muir.
