Beechy Road
Beechy Road
Narrow highway connecting Hollow Lane to Scaines Hill, the B2192. The straight nature of the road belies its origins on a surveyors plan as the whole area between the roads was once the location of Barnett or Barnard's Wood. A road seems not to exist on the 1778-83 Yeakell & Gardner map but does, albeit running to the south past a number of cottages and barns, on the 1813 OS map. Since then the wood has been grubbed and the road straightened out following the original line drawn with a ruler on a surveyor's map.
