Whitney-on-Wye tollbridge
Whitney-on-Wye tollbridge
The bridge isn't at its best on a wet Easter Monday but it certainly is worth a visit. It is made of wood with stone footings at each bank and stone islands midstream supporting wooden columns and now has iron railings. It dates from 1796 when the tolls averaged around a few pennies and today the toll for a car is just 80p.
