NO2959 : Balintore Castle
near to Balintore, Angus, Great Britain

Balintore Castle
Seen from the Quharity Burn. The outline of the castle suggests that it could have built from gingerbread and icing sugar, but the reality is very different. Built in the mid 19th century, it was abandoned in the 1960s and was rapidly deteriorating when in 2007, Angus Council stepped in and used compulsory purchase powers to save it from total collapse Link
. Ownership has now passed to a private owner who is undertaking restoration.
