The London, Tilbury and Southend Railway is a railway line linking Fenchurch Street railway station in London with northeast London and the entire length of the northern Thames Gateway area of southern Essex to Shoeburyness. The line has two branches the direct line via Basildon and the longer slower line via Grays and Tilbury. The two lines divide at Barking and Pitsea. The line was opened in 1854.
West Horndon station is located in West Horndon on the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway Line
The station was opened on 1 May 1886 as East Horndon by the London Tilbury and Southend Railway, as part of a new direct route from Barking to Pitsea, avoiding Tilbury. It is located 19 miles from Fenchurch Street. The name of the station was changed to West Horndon on 1 May 1949.
The station is managed by c2c, who also operate all train services.
