Rosslyn Castle from below
The castle is built on sandstone outcrops above the River North Esk.
Rosslyn Castle
The castle ruins date from 1447 when an earlier 14th century castle was damaged by fire. A late 16th century house in the castle courtyard is still in good repair and is available as holiday accommodation through the Landmark Trust. The castle is within the estate of the Earl of Rosslyn of the Sinclair or St Clair family which has owned land in this area since the 12th century.
