Great Yarmouth Racecourse
Great Yarmouth has been holding regular race meetings since the 18th century. The first proper racecourse was built in 1810. The racecourse you can see today was only opened in 1921. Great Yarmouth Racecourse was acquired by Northern Racing, who immediately set about modernising the venue. In 2004 a new grandstand was added to the facilities, named in Lord Nelson's honour to commemorate not only the win at Trafalgar but also the humble beginnings of horse racing in the town of Great Yarmouth.
