Hestercombe Gardens - water turbine

This 1895 Gilbert, Gilkes & Co vortex water turbine originally drove a dynamo to charge batteries for lighting the house. It has now been restored following a period of dereliction and drives a modern alternator (top right). It was not running on this occasion. There is an overshot waterwheel behind but this cannot be seen.
