Walkway in Hackwood Park
Walkway in Hackwood Park
Hackwood Park is an up-market housing estate established in the 1980s in the grounds of the old Hackwood House. The estate is built on a steep hillside above the centre of Hexham and is served by a sinuous road whose only exit is at the top of the estate into Juniper Road. A broad walkway has been constructed to provide a direct way through the estate down to the bottom and out onto the Slaley Road. But everybody just jumps into their car - I have yet to meet anybody using the walkway.

The plume of steam rising from the stack identifies the Egger Works NY9363, a well-known landmark in the Tyne valley.
