Hardwick Hall - from the Old to the New
Hardwick Hall - from the Old to the New
The 16th century Hardwick Hall viewed through the ruin of the Old Hall. The Old Hall was finished in 1591 and immediately Bess of Harwick began work on the new Hardwick Hall after the death of the Earl of Shrewsbury (her fourth husband). The New Hall was completed in 1597 when she was 70 years old and the Old Hall was abandoned.
