Here the ponciau (galleries) have been partially obliterated with rock debris from the shafts and tunnels created within the mountain during the construction of the HEP station. The debris was dumped from Ponc Lernion which, after an access cutting was made, was sufficiently wide for large lorries to operate. The five galleries above Ponc Lernion, in ascending order, are Ponc Aberdaron, Ponc Jubilee, Ponc Assheton-Smith, Ponc Enid (named after G.W.D.Assheton-Smith's daughter) and, barely visible, Ponc Alice ( at 2,200 ft, the highest in the quarry) Below Lernion, in descending order, are Ponc Twllmwg, Ponc Roller, Sinc Fawr, Ponc Tophet and Ponc Abyssinia.
