A Lefal at Lernion
A 'lefal' is a slate quarryman's term for an access tunnel into the extraction area. During the construction of the HEP station, this lefal was abandoned and a cutting made to allow access to the gallery for the large machinery needed to create a tunnel access from the gallery to the HEP shaft. The building in Ponc Aberdaron above is a 'cwt mochal ffiar' - a blast shelter.
