NY9265 : Hexham's only cycle path
near to Acomb, Northumberland, Great Britain

Hexham's only cycle path
With its congested town centre, and steep streets to the south, Hexham is not the most cycle-friendly of towns. We can discount the useless minuscule length of cycle path within the Hospital grounds as mere tokenism. That leaves National Cycle Network route 72 (Hadrian's Cycleway) which wends a perilous course over Hexham Bridge before attaining the busy Ferry Road/ Corchester Lane to the east. On the west side of town, the route is much more cycle-friendly. It follows an old road (now just a narrow path sandwiched between railway and river as seen here) from Warden Bridge before crossing the railway twice and following the access road through Tyne Green.
