The roof of Bath Abbey has this crafted sign in the lead:

'By the bounty of the corporation of this city these roofs were lowered to their original pitch and covered with lead A.D. 1831. Johnson Phillpot mayor, G.P. Manners architect, Boon and Son contractors.'

A second panel was added underneath:

'By the generosity of the friends of Bath Abbey this leadwork was recast A.D. 1972, F.W. Beresford-Smith architect, Norman and Underwood contr.'
