In the area originally known as Little London, before taking the name of the nearby church when this was built in the mid 19th century. The area now forms the St Johns Conservation Area. The low stone cottages are grade II listed, dating from the early 19th century - see LinkExternal link whilst the white house beyond (The Verralls) dating from the mid 19th century, is locally listed. In the background is the tower of St Johns School (see TQ2749 : St John's Primary School and TQ2749 : St John's Primary School).
