Cote Pasture East, Low Abbotside , Wensleydale
The grid square is an area of gently rising fell lying to the north of a wooded limestone cliff, Shawcote Scar. The lower parts are pasture and the higher parts are grazed by sheep. At the highest point there is heather, the home of grouse.
The fell is best seen, as in this photo, from across the Dale. Ingleby Lodge Farm, south of the gridsquare, is situated among the more fertile pasture areas seen in the bottom part of the photograph.
