The eastern end of the forest above Dunvegan woods was cleared of pines some years ago. The land has remained untouched ever since, and new woodland is gradually establishing itself from self-sown seedlings. The tall tree on the horizon is a specimen Monkey Puzzle tree (seeNG2649 : Monkey Puzzle tree) which has somehow avoided being blown down (so far) in any storm - a fate which has befallen many other large trees in this area.
