Fallen oak on the edge of Stonard Wood, New Forest
Stonard Wood is a small, triangular area of open woodland on Hart Hill, between Withybed Bottom and Ringwood Ford Bottom. The soil is quite thin here up on the plateau and the broadleafed trees usually grow stunted. This particular oak as fallen, exposing its shallow roots, although it is still partly surviving.
