Rolling stock at Saughtree Station
Rolling stock at Saughtree Station
Saughtree was a station on the Borders Counties Railway that ran between Riccarton and Hexham. The single track line was opened in 1862 and closed to passenger traffic in 1956 and to freight traffic in 1958. A railway enthusiast has re-laid a length of track at the station with an industrial engine ‘Meg of Saughtree’, a couple of flat goods trucks, and a guards van on display. The shunting locomotive was in the engine shed.
