With referrence to the 'hunting scene' on the reverse of class II Aberlemno number 2 stone. It is suggest that rather than a hunting trip the four scenes are images from the Battle of Nechtansmere fought in AD685. The battle took place not far from Aberlemno[[ NO5148 : Nechtansmere]]. The battle saw the victory of the Pictish leader Brude mac Bili over King Ecgfrid of Northumbria.
