Summit of Dumyat
Summit of Dumyat, taken 5 years ago
Although only 418 metres in height Dumyat, situated at the western end of the Ochil Hills, is an outstanding viewpoint. The name is pronounced 'Dum-eye-at'. At the summit is a trig.point, a summit cairn with brazier on top and in the foreground, coloured silver, is the badge of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, the local regiment. A short distance to the SW from the summit are the remains of an iron-age fort. The name Dumyat is thought to come from the 'Dun of Maetae, who were the tribe in the area during the iron age.
