SX7363 : The east window of Dean Prior church

near to Dean Prior, Devon, Great Britain

The east window of Dean Prior church
The east window of Dean Prior church
The window commemorates the poet Robert Herrick, who was the vicar here in the 17th century. The two light sat the centre show the Nativity of Jesus Christ, a subject about which Herrick often wrote. On the left is St George, and on the right King Charles the First. Herrick was removed from his post because of his loyalty to the king. The badges above include those of St John's College and Trinity Hall Cambridge, at both of which Herrick studied.
