Landslip on Highland Line by Slochd
Probably triggered by the northbound Caledonian Sleeper, a landslip barred the way of the 0755 London-bound train from Inverness. Six days later the line was reopened, but in the meantime buses conveyed passengers to Inverness from either Perth or Aviemore. Being the first train on the scene ensured that our journey time south was extended by five hours, as engineers sorted out the severity of the landslip and EastCoast slowly hired coaches to take passengers by road all the way to Edinburgh.
