Flats on the site of King's Head coal mine, Mirfield
King's Head coal mine was run by the Mirfield Colliery Co. founded by Charles Wheatley, Robert Barraclough and John Nevin in 1871. The shaft connected to the Dark Lane workings. The pit chimney was felled in 1946, and a large garage built on the pit site. This was eventually demolished and this block of flats built.
