On leaving the woods (
NS3482 : The edge of the woods), the Three Lochs Way crosses the open Killoeter plateau (the area shown here). There is no very noticeable path (the route is a new one), but the Three Lochs Way travels above the north-western side of the deep glen of Red Burn, keeping out of the glen itself. See
NS3382 : The Three Lochs Way for a view in the opposite direction.
A marker stick can be seen ahead. The route continues downhill, passing
NS3382 : Northfield Wood, crossing a new forestry track (
NS3382 : The Three Lochs Way), and then entering
NS3281 : Quarry Wood; see
NS3281 : Path through Quarry Wood.
Most prominent amongst the nearer buildings in the left-hand side of the photo are a couple of large barns, side by side; the Three Lochs Way passes those buildings (as shown in
NS3282 : The Three Lochs Way).
In the background, the town of Helensburgh is on the near shore of the Firth of Clyde; behind it, the Rosneath Peninsula can be seen jutting out into the firth.
