Fallen water pipes
Just to the north of NS4377 : The Crags Circular Path, on the slope below the path, a small landslide exposed these pipes, which consequently fell into the hole. They presumably carried water from NS4477 : The Black Linn Reservoir, since the path is known to closely follow the course of the pipes from that reservoir [see page 12 of I M M MacPhail's booklet "Off the Main Road" (1976)].
