SO4876 : River Teme, Bromfield

near to Bromfield, Shropshire, Great Britain

River Teme, Bromfield
River Teme, Bromfield
These newly reconstructed weirs used original stone recovered from the river bed. There is a water mill on each side and the one on the right is an old estate corn mill containing a water turbine. The weirs have been reconstructed to feed an archimedean screw generator that will be placed behind the old corn mill in its tailrace. A further hydropower site further downstream will have a Kaplan turbine. These will help reduce the Earl of Plymouth's estate's carbon footprint. Seen on the back end of National Mills Weekend but not part of it.
