This is the historic centre of Aberdeen, the old market place. On the right is the western edge of the new "Aberdeen Market, an indoor shopping centre. Looking up the lane is one of the first flyovers in the world, carrying Union Street over a valley. Beyond this is the spire of the Mither Kirk, St Nicholas.
