Looking north west up the ancient route from Castleton to Guisborough known as Ernaldsti after Ernaldus de Percy, Lord of Kildale, The route was, at one time classed as a "Green Lane" which meant you could take your car over it however in recent times it has been down graded to a Public Bridleway.
