The Binsbrook joins the River Leam
The Binsbrook joins the River Leam
Until the parishes of Milverton and Leamington Priors merged at the end of the 19th century the Binsbrook was the boundary between them. In Milverton it was called the Binsbrook; in Leamington it was called the Milverton Brook because the Leamington authorities didn't want to take responsibility for it. Only when it was an open sewer, feared as a health risk in the face of a cholera epidemic, was it culverted in the mid-century. Not until 1871 was the sewage diverted out of it. These battered 'gas pipe' railings guard its original outfall to the River Leam.
