The confluence of Afon Hwch and Afon Nant Peris
The confluence of Afon Hwch and Afon Nant Peris
From the end of the Ice Age until the late 1970s Afon Nant Peris flowed into the upper end of Llyn Peris. With the building of the HEP it was diverted and channelled through a tunnel thus by-passing the lake. Here surrounded by barbed wire it emerges from the tunnel after its long journey to join Afon Hwch and form the short stretch of water known as Afon Bala which flows into Llyn Padarn.
