Old Roar Gill Nature Reserve was designated in 2002. The reserve is centred on Old Roar Gill a narrow steep ravine cut into the local sandstone. The area has a wide range of plants, trees, ferns and birds. Coronation Wood was planted in 1937 to celebrate the coronation of George VI.
