Wooden patterns at the Gilfach Ddu foundry
Wooden patterns at the Gilfach Ddu foundry
Such patterns were constructed by skilled pattern makers and were used in the preparation of moulds. Pattern makers would be known in the community with the suffix 'Patrwm' added to their name e.g. William Jones would be immediately identifiable from all the other William Joneses by the name 'Wil Jos Patrwm', and Thomas Evans as 'Twm Ifas Patrwm'.
