The parlour of the Chief Engineer's House
Between 1870 and 1966 Dinorwig Quarry had only 5 chief engineers, all local men and all living in the chief engineers house on the eastern side of the main gate. The last engineer to live here was T.H.Morris (Tomi Morris) who retired in 1966. His successor Hugh R Jones (Huw Richard) served from 1966 to 1969 when the quarry closed. He was then appointed curator of the National Slate Museum at Gilfach Ddu.
