Aircraft wreck at shore of one of Fairy Lochs
Lochan Sgeireach appears to be a singular name but it seems to be used here plurally for the group of lochs south and south-west of Sdhean Mr.
In 1945 this was the location of tragedy when a US Air Force aircraft crashed killing all 15 men on board as it was returning to the USA; wreckage is strewn around the lochan and a plaque naming the victims is fixed to a rock.
(Note: at least one edition of OS Landranger 19 indicates the memorial site to be not here but on the northern shore of a larger loch of the group, to the south-east.)
