NM6325 : Layered Gabbro

near to Kinlochspelve, Argyll And Bute, Great Britain

Layered Gabbro
Layered Gabbro
This natural standing stone has survived both erosion and the quarrying of the neighbouring rock. The ridges at the foot of it are layers of more resistant minerals, alternated with less resistant layers which have been eroded away. Loch Uisg is at the foot of the slope, beyond the road.
