Chysauster Ancient Village
Chysauster Ancient Village
High on the bleak down stands the Iron Age settlement of Chusauster. Eight houses, four on each side of a short 'street', each with a garden and courtyard. The houses were occupied from around the 1st century BC and abandoned some 300 years later. Apart from the loss of the thatched roofs, they have survived remarkably well.
