Flooding in Dolypandy, Capel Bangor
Flooding in Dolypandy, Capel Bangor
Afon Melindwr burst its banks in several places in Capel Bangor in the early morning of 9th June. In this view, it is flowing across the bridge which carries the lane through Dolypandy. Several of the ex-mill cottages in the vicinity of the river were flooded and extensively damaged. The emergency services were in attendance for most of the morning. The river also flooded the main A44 road just to the east of Capel Bangor and holiday traffic trying to escape the Mid-Wales flooding was backed up for several hours. A local who has lived in the village for all of his life has not seen similar flooding in more than 60 years.
