Braunton Marsh Round Linhay
Braunton Marsh Round Linhay
The linhays or stone cattle shelters are one of the most distiinctive features of the Marshes. They were constructed mainly before the 1850's and no two are the same, although most are rectangular in shape. Some of them have become very run down but there are still 35 in existence-. This round linhay, which is a grade II listed building on the edge of one of the marsh roads, has been renovated and re-thatched. The drain has been recently cleared out and the debris left on the banks.
