Established as a bakery in 1939 by John Gregg in Newcastle. Greggs opened the first shop in 1951 and is now the largest chain of bakeries in the UK, with over 1400 shops.

Iceland was founded in Oswestry, Shropshire in 1970 by Malcolm Walker.

Usually found on the high street, they specialise in frozen foods. In 2009 there were over 682 stores around the UK and Ireland.
