King Edward School of Mines - winding engine house
The nearest white building is a modern reconstruction of the winding house erected in the first decade of the twentieth century to house a horizontal steam winder that replaced the beam winder in the disused beam engine house to the left. This horizontal winder was made redundant when the underground section closed in about 1921 and was later moved to a wolfram mine at Castle an Dinas and later to the Poldark Museum. It is now back on its original foundations. See - SW6638 : King Edward School of Mines.
