Bodiam Castle
Built in 1385, Bodiam Castle is a perfect example of a late medieval moated castle. It was built to defend the surrounding area from French invasion, though the French never came, and it never saw any military action.
Though now mostly a shell inside the castle would have been fitted to a comfortable living standard, it is thought the castle was built mostly for show and its intentions for real battle are doubted.
The Castle is now owned and run by the National Trust, and is said to be its most photographed property. Read more at wikipedia Link
