The monument built to commemorate the opening of the Betws-y-Coed Waterworks by Lord Ancaster in June 1914. This reservoir in the hills to the west of Betws was named Llyn Elsi and prior to this the lake was in fact two smaller lakes, called Llyn Rhisgog and Llyn Enoc.
