Scolt Head Island Traverse 5: The end of the dunes
This marks the end of the high dunes north of the Warden's cottage. This was the only driftwood we saw. Perhaps smaller pieces had been collected for a fire but the cottage had bottled gas for heating and cooking.
Please note: The crossing of Scolt Head Island from end to end is perfectly possible but only with careful planning and a knowledge of the tides. Do not attempt the crossing unless you are fit and know when it is low tide in the area. Cross on a falling tide and be prepared for deep mud in places at the western end.
