Under the calcining kilns
Under the calcining kilns
A view through the remains of the five calcining kilns of the Raasay iron works. A conveyor ran along this tunnel to carry out the calcined ore at a rate of up to 300 tons per hour, thus loading a 1,000 ton ship at the nearby pier NG5534 : Farewell to Suisnish Pier in around three hours.
