The O2, is a large entertainment district on the Greenwich peninsula in South East London, including an indoor arena, a music club, a cinema, an exhibition space, piazzas, bars and restaurants. It was built largely within the former Millennium Dome, a large dome-shaped building built to house an exhibition celebrating the turn of the third millennium; as such, The Dome remains a name in common usage for the venue.

Emirates Air Line is a Transport for London gondola link across the River Thames that is being built with sponsorship from the air carrier Emirates for the 2012 London Olympics. The scheme, comprises a 1 km cable car line that crosses the river from the Greenwich Peninsula to the Royal Docks, linking two important Olympic sites. The project, estimated to cost £60 million, began construction in August 2011. The cable car was first included on the tube map in December 2011, as a part of the network under construction.
