Stretton Mill
Stretton Mill
A beautifully preserved rural watermill that can be visited as part of a guided tour. We were too late for the last tour of the day but the mill kindly let us in for a few quick photographs before closing. There is an 1852 breast shot wheel indoors at the left end and this replaced a wheel of 1630. At the right end is an overshot wheel that was installed originally in 1770 but had major work in 1977. Each whell drives two set of stones and the left hand wheel drives the sack hoist.
