Upstream along the Wye towards the Wye Bridge, Rhayader
The rocks in the river are the remnants of a large waterfall that was here before the construction of the road bridge in 1780. The roar from the waters tumbling over the waterfall could be heard throughout Rhayader.
Rhayader is the Anglicised form of the Welsh name of the town, Rhaeadr Gwy, literally waterfall on the Wye.
