Brass to Elizabeth Tyrwhitt, All Saints' Church, Bigby
Elizabeth married William Skipworth of Ormsby circa 1520. He remarried after she died. Elizabeth was daughter of Sir William Tyrwhitt and Anne Constable.
All Saints church, Bigby
Grade I listed.
13th Century church restored in 1779 and 1878. Built of soft stone which in places has eroded to show fossilised remains. The tower is late 13th C. the stone is very weathered in places.
Font 14th C. octagonal bowl, used as a farm trough and returned to the church in 1878. There is a second marble font from early 19th C. The north and south arcades are 3 bays, late 13th Century. There is a modern rood beam and cross, carved in Oberammergau, installed in 1929.
The chancel is up three steps and contains monuments to the Tyrwhitt family.
